CPAP Pillows for Side Sleepers
Below I’m going to talk about three CPAP Pillows for Side Sleepers which are popular.
If you currently sleep on your stomach, this is going to be uncomfortable with a CPAP mask and a pillow for side sleepers will not only help you get used to sleeping on your side but help your neck feel more comfortable.
CPAP Pillows #1: CPAPfit CPAP Pillow–Cool, Dry, Comfortable & Adjustable–for Sleep Apnea
The CPAPfit CPAP Pillow–Cool, Dry, Comfortable & Adjustable–for Sleep Apnea receives higher ratings from Amazon customers than the other two pillows which I’m going to discuss below. One buyer said “AWESOME, MORE THAN JUST A CPAP PILLOW!!!” (capitalization is hers not mine).
This pillow was designed by someone who is a CPAP patient and was evolved based on user feedback on the cpaptalk forum. The filling of this pillow contains Buckwheat hulls, which are shapeable, naturally antimicrobial and hypoallergenic.
They’ve been used in pillows in Japan for centuries. I’m really impressed when I read the many positive customer reviews on Amazon. The overwhelming majority of buyers gave this pillow a 5 star rating.
CPAP Pillows #2: Contour Products CPAP Sleep Aid Pillow
Here is what one person who purchased this Contour Products CPAP Sleep Aid Pillow said:
“As a user of a CPAP machine, I have spent my evenings trying to adjust and configure pillows so that I can wear the face mask with some semblance of comfort, with little success.
I took a chance on this sleep pillow and I have to say it works great! Not only does it nicely accommodate the shape shape of the mask, the neck support is a real added value. I did not have any of the problems noted in the other review. “
Another thing people liked about this pillow is that when used it, they didn’t get red marks on their face from the CPAP mask straps. This pillow, due to its shape, is great for eliminating the problem of the CPAP mask shifting around and leaking air if a sleeper rolls onto their side. Many users liked this pillow, but others did not.
CPAP Pillows #3: Contour Products CPAPMax Pillow
The Contour Products CPAPMax Pillow is another popular pillow. The main difference with this pillow is that there are larger cutouts on either side allow user to sleep on either side.
These cutouts help to reduce shifting or leaks of the mask and reduce scoring or injury to the face from the mask straps. Also for this pillow, many buyers liked this pillow, but others did not.
Cpap Pillows For Side Sleepers: Bottom Line
76% of customer reviews for the CPAPfit CPAP Pillow–Cool, Dry, Comfortable & Adjustable–for Sleep Apnea gave it five stars — a better result than for the other two pillows.
Also, I am impressed with the way this pillow was developed by a CPAP user based on CPAP users’ feedback. I recommend this pillow.
For the other two pillows, looking at the many user reviews, it is apparent that although the general consensus is positive for each of them, neither is liked by everyone. It does take a couple of nights to get used to any of these pillows.
You could consider buying two pillows and trying both out to see which suits you best.
